Plot: A group of youngsters uncover a book of sinister stories, which then begin to come to life.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is another one of the most under-appreciated horror films of the century. It might've been marketed as a horror film for younger viewers but do not let that fool you: this thing is absolutely terrifying.

With its nightmarish monsters, terrific direction from Norwegian horror maestro Andre Ovredal and many painfully effective jump scares, chances are you'll be watching through your fingers all the way through.

A horror movie for kids? Hmm, not quite!

Admittedly the story is nothing special, but the characters are engaging and the story features plenty of genuine pathos, so there's more than enough to keep everyone engaged between all those incredible scares. Horror fans should not sleep on this one.
