50 Greatest Horror Movies Of The 21st Century

47. Shutter

Get Out Daniel Kaluuya
20th Century Fox

Plot: A photographer (Ananda Everingham) begins seeing mysterious images in photographs, as a supernatural force begins to stalk him.

While American horror floundered during the 2000s, Asian horror flourished and many of the best horror films of that decade were ones from that region. Shutter, a Thai horror film, is definitely one of those.

Even if it borrows a lot from other Asian horror films, Shutter still stands out thanks to its terrifying scares, haunting story and outstanding ending and it has enjoyed a well-earned status as a horror cult classic. There's a strong argument to be made that it's one of the most frightening horror films of the 2000s.

The film received its own American remake in 2008... which sucked. Of course it did.
