46. The Invitation

Get Out Daniel Kaluuya
Gamechanger Films

Plot: Will (Logan Marshall-Green) and his girlfriend Kira (Emayatzy Corinealdi) accept a dinner invitation from Will's ex-wife, but it quickly becomes apparent that all is not what it seems.

The Invitation is a tour-de-force of slow-burn tension.

Every scene is absolutely laced with suffocating dread and the film's razor sharp screenplay is constantly hoodwinking the viewers, misdirecting them, tricking them and leaving them guessing, before finally arriving at a bone-chilling climax that'll leave everyone positively sweating with anxiety.

Make no mistake, Hitchcock would be proud.

The Invitation was overlooked on release, but has deservedly got more attention in recent years and seems destined to enjoy a well-earned cult classic status in the future.
