50 Greatest James Bond Moments Of All Time

32. Goldfinger: Gold Paint

The Spy Who Loved Me
United Artists

Yes, alright, it has been proven that covering this unfortunate woman (Shirley Eaton) in paint wouldn't actually kill her but realism be damned, this scene is still unforgettable.

It's not only an absolutely iconic scene but it's also very alarming and haunting; even the normally confident Bond is visibly shaken and the initial reveal of the dead body is one of the franchise's scariest scenes.

As well as this, it does wonders for the story. It really sets up just what a ruthless threat Goldfinger is and it starts off the story with Bond making a huge mistake and getting an innocent woman killed, which M (Bernard Lee) chastises him for.

One of the things that makes Goldfinger such a classic is that Bond constantly slipping up and making mistakes throughout the film and this cranks the tension up to 11; this death scene feeds into that very well.
