50 Greatest James Bond Moments Of All Time

31. Goldfinger: Pre-Credits

The Spy Who Loved Me

Several Bond pre-credits scenes don't actually relate much to the rest of the film and are instead like mini-Bond films all on their own. Goldfinger, the masterful third film in the series (believe the hype) has the earliest example of this and it's still the best.

This sequence, which depicts Bond destroying a drugs laboratory, is already a ridiculously cool and bad-ass sequence - especially when Bond removes his wetsuit to reveal a tuxedo underneath - but what makes it even more entertaining is that it summarizes the entire Bond formula in just a few minutes.

It's got explosions, gadgets, violence, Sean Connery being suave, a Bond Girl, a glamorous drinking establishment, plenty of delightful humour and finally, a lovely little fight scene that's capped off with one of Bond's best kills, followed by one of his best post-kill one-liners.

He throws the hitman into a bath, then chucks a lamp in and electrocuting him before saying "Shocking. Positively shocking." Classic stuff.
