50 Greatest James Bond Moments Of All Time

20. The Spy Who Loved Me: Underwater Car Chase

The Spy Who Loved Me

The Spy Who Loved Me, which is easily the best of the turbulent Roger Moore era, is the very best example of an OTT Bond film. It ramps up the insanity and ludicrousness all while remaining thrilling and suspenseful from beginning to end.

This iconic, wonderful car chase from the film's second act, in which Bond and main Bond Girl Anya Amasova (Barbara Bach) drive a car that doubles as a submarine and evade some villains, is a delightful showcase of the film's beautifully-judged thrills.

It's a joyous, out-there delight filled with mad gadgets and escapist insanity but it never strays too far into campy silliness - unlike many of the other Roger Moore films - and is instead a consistently tense, gripping and exciting excursion into the fantastical.

To sum up: ridiculous but brilliant.
