50 Greatest James Bond Moments Of All Time

44. Thunderball: Shark Pool

The Spy Who Loved Me
MGM

Thunderball is the weakest Bond film of the 1960s and maybe the main reason for this is that too much of the movie's action takes place underwater. Since people don't move very fast underwater, it does give these scenes a slow feel. But... this mid-film set-piece is terrific.

Bond gets trapped in a sealed pool with a group of man-eating sharks and it's frightening as hell. Frankly, outside of Jaws (1975) it's hard to think of another time on-screen where sharks were this scary.

In particular, a moment where Bond is swimming through a tunnel and a shark suddenly comes into shot and drifts past him will make you jump right out of your seat.

Honestly, this might be the single most terrifying James Bond movie moment and the one time where it felt like James Bond was in a horror film.
