50 Greatest Marvel Movie Moments

30. The Incredible Hulk: Iron Man Stops By

When I first heard that Iron Man was going to be in The Incredible Hulk it got me all excited imagining the two of them potentially facing off, Tony Stark in his costume and The Hulk all angried up. In reality however, Tony Stark only appears in a post credits scene where he talks to General Ross vaguely about a new team that is forming. Although it was somewhat of a disappointment to not see Iron Man in costume in this film, this really was the first example of the Marvel superheroes appearing in each other's film and this scene only whet the appetite as to what was to come in just 4 more years.

29. Spider-Man 2: Runaway Bride

SpiderMan2DVD_279 Maybe you weren't all that invested in the Peter Parker/Mary Jane Watson relationship storyline of the original trilogy, and I'm sure there are many other people who would also prefer Superhero films to be all about the action, and leave the romance stuff to the chick-flicks. I am not one of those people, and personally I found the romantic plot to be one of the most successful elements of these films and one which raised this trilogy above all the Marvel movies before it. When Mary Jane Watson decided to be with Peter Parker, despite knowing he was Spider-Man she didn't really know what she was getting herself into, and her final look at the end of this movie when Spider-Man leaves to save the day says volumes about how complicated their relationship is soon to become.

28. Spider-Man 3: Spider-Man Kills Venom

Venom

Maybe you aren't all that much of a fan of this film, though despite overall this film is considerably worse than the first two there are some stand out moments, and the scene where Spider-Man uses metal rods and their sound vibrations to imprison Venom, then pulls Eddie from his Venom suit and follows to blow up what is left of Venom (after Eddie leaps into Venom that is) is a pretty great and spectacularly visual scene. Hopefully this isn't the last we will see of Venom in the movies, though seeing as he probably won't feature in the next Amazing Spider-Man it seems pretty unlikely that they would want to cast him in the third movie as well considering how many people loathe Venom in Spider-Man 3.

27. X2: Jean Sacrifices Herself To Save The X-Men

This scene ended what was a pretty stunning two hours of cinema, and for all those out there that new what was coming, or at least the potential of what was coming, it was reason enough to get pretty darn excited indeed. In all honesty however Jean really didn't need to leave the X-Jet to protect it from the oncoming wave of water, and her powers should have been enough for her to have stayed safe inside the X- Jet, without needing to brake both Cyclops and Wolverine's hearts to do so. Still, we could forgive this plot hole a little more had the Phoenix in the next movie been awesome, but sadly we all know how that turned out.

26. The Avengers: Shawarma Scene

If you've read many of my other posts you'll know how much I love Joss Whedon, and this post credits scene at the end of The Avengers where the team sit in silence enjoying a Shawarma each sums up Joss Whedon and his love of understated character moments perfectly. The only annoying thing about this scene was the fact that for some reason the UK release didn't feature this... although we did get the film before those in the States so I guess you can't have it all.

I am a recent Screenwriting for Film and Television graduate from the UK. I am an unashamed geek who loves everything Marvel, and anything Joss Whedon has ever touched (except for maybe Alien Resurrection and Titan A.E). My current favorite TV shows are Breaking Bad, Family Guy, House of Cards, Game of Thrones, American Horror Story, Homeland and Glee. I look forward to debating things with all of you in the future.
