20. X-Men: Rogue's First Kiss
The reason the X-Men films are so successful is because they present superheroes to the audience as people much more successfully than any superhero movie had done since and arguably has yet to do even now. As much as I was a fan of Rogue in the cartoon series and in the comics, I really like the portrayal of Rogue in the films because she feels like a human being- just one with somewhat unrelatable problems. The first time we meet Rogue right at the beginning of X-Men, we see her kiss a boy, and due to her mutant powers, almost kill him. This is a perfect way to introduce us into the X-Men world, and makes Rogue a superhero we sympathize with as apposed to want to be like- making her and the majority of the X-Men stand out against most of Marvel's and especially DC's line up of superheroes.
19. Captain America: Star Spangled Man
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxRKwKJI_uI This very 1940's feeling musical number was a perfect interlude between the sometimes over the top action in the Captain America film, and this scene even went some way into making the rest of the film seem more believable... especially in terms of why he wears such a ridiculous outfit. Maybe this isn't exactly your cup of tea, but it is a catchy song and a fun moment in the film and in the history of Marvel movies.
18. X-Men 3: Professor X Dies?
Despite the fact that the post credit scene went someway into making this moment somewhat worthless and have little impact, this was a real WTF moment, and certainly kept me on the edge of my seat in the cinema. The confrontation between the Phoenix and Xavier is probably the Phoenix's one shining moment in the entire film, and the reaction on Wolverine, Storm and particularly Magneto's face is heartbreaking when Xavier finally explodes into a million pieces. Seeing as we know Patrick Stewart is back int X-Men: Days of Future Past... I wonder whether they will stick with bringing him back the way they had planned out in the post credits sequence, or go with something different. My guess is different.
17. Thor: Pet Shop
Thor is probably the single funniest Marvel movie (forgetting The Avengers- and even then most of the funniest scenes involve Thor in some way). In this scene if you can't remember he asks the pet shop owner "I need a horse", the pet shop owner replies, "We don't have horses. Just dogs, cats, birds..." and then Thor says, "Then give me one of those large enough to ride". This is my personal favorite moment from the Thor movie and goes to show what a brilliant comedic actor Hemsworth truly is.
16. X2: Wolverine Vs Lady Deathstrike
Superhero showdowns work best in my opinion when they are kept between one good guy and one bad guy. This fight scene between Wolverine and Lady Deathstrike is a beautiful display of choreography and action, and gives us exactly what we want when we go to see one of these films: Wolverine engaged in a battle to the death. It would have been best if we felt anything for Lady Deathstrike who was reduced in this film to nothing more really than a mindless drone, but even considering this, when the adamantium in liquid form pours out of Deathstrike's eyes it is truly powerful enough that we ourselves almost shed a little tear.
