50 Greatest Marvel Movie Moments

10. Marvel Opening Title: Comic Book Pages

Marvel_Studios

Though this may be considered cheating, considering this has pretty much been in every Marvel movie I think this justifies a mention on this list. I don't know about you, but when the Marvel logo comes up at the beginning of a Marvel movie, after a fast series of colorful comic book pages have flicked in front of our eyes with that awesome "comic-book fluttering" sound effect I am almost overwhelmed with excitement. Sometimes I think I could just watch a whole 2 hours of that comic books pages flickering and that would almost be enough. Just me? Anyway, this logo signifies the start of what is usually a rather wonderful 2 hours of entertainment, hence its place at number 10 on this list.

9. X2: Nightcrawler's Assassination Attempt

What a truly breathtaking way to start off such a brilliant movie. Nightcrawler has been a favorite character of mine since I was very young, so watching him introduced this way so early on in X2 was the perfect way for me to kick off a movie. This scene perfectly displayed Nightcrawler's acrobatic and teleportation mutant abilities, as he was manipulated into trying to assassinate the President of the United States in order to encourage human hatred of mutants. It's a shame Nightcrawler didn't come back for the sequel, though having said that the film could very well have ruined his character. Here's hoping he makes an appearance in Days of Future Past.

8. The Avengers: Black Widow's Reverse Interrogation

If you hadn't already fallen in love with Black Widow in Iron Man 2, the way she is introduced in The Avengers is sure to do just that. At the beginning of this film she appears to be in some trouble as she is apparently being interrogated by some "bad guys", and when SHIELD calls her up asking for her help to get Bruce Banner to join their team she reveals that her apparent capture had been a plan all along, and she was in fact manipulating those who had captured her in order to retrieve some valuable information. This was the perfect re-introduction to a character who would surprisingly become my favorite of The Avengers - charming, beautiful and with enough attitude to take out an army of henchmen alone.

7. Iron Man: Iron Man Meets Nick Fury

And so it began. Not only did this post credits scene at the end of Iron Man introduce us to one of the coolest Marvel characters yet, Nick Fury, but it also began the movement towards last years coolest film of the year; The Avengers. This scene isn't long, and not much really happens, but it marked the turning point from when Marvel was just another company making superhero movies to when it was THE company that made blockbuster summer movies. Also, this scene is pretty much responsible for me researching all superhero movies before I go to the cinema just in case they have a post credits scene... and guess what, because of this scene, most do.

6. Spider-Man: The Upside Down Kiss

spiderman2 This scene is perhaps both the most iconic and romantic kiss scene in cinema in the last 15 years, and considering this is a superhero/ arguably children's movie... that is really saying a lot and is a testament to the strong, well-structured romance plot this film series weaves between its three films. Though the scene is really cheesy, for what ever reason it has been remembered this long and whether you like it or not, will forever go down in the history books. Besides, there is nothing wrong with a little cheese... if you don't like cheese then you certainly wouldn't like superhero movies.
