50 Huge Movie Characters That Were Completely Miscast
21. Aaron Dean Eisenberg As Ric Flair - The Iron Claw
The story of the Von Erich family was adapted into The Iron Claw, an incredible film that transcended just those in the wrestling fandom excited to see it. It was a genuinely emotional tear-jerker that rightly earned almost universal praise.
However, there was one aspect in particular that did piss off a lot of people, and that was the portrayal of Ric Flair. One of the most famous and influential wrestlers in history, the Nature Boy was mentioned multiple times before he truly and briefly appeared towards the end of the film as he gave Kevin (Zac Efron) a title shot.
Aaron Dean Eisenberg was cast as the icon, though apart from the wig and the robes, you wouldn't have known you were watching Ric Flair. He looked nothing like him, he sounded nothing like him, which despite his brief appearance, was criminal.
It's like Eisenberg had no idea who Flair was and had done zero research on him. Not even a single video. The performance felt as though he had been told to simply portray a generic wrestler without worrying about Flair's unique and unmistakable style and charm. Yes, Flair is a one-of-a-kind personality, but it's like Eisenberg didn't even try.
