50 Huge Movie Characters That Were Completely Miscast
4. Jesse Eisenberg As Lex Luthor - Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice
They say that a movie is often only as good as its villain, and in fairness you could have stuck Nicholas Hoult in Batman V Superman and it still would have fallen as flat as physically possible. However, that doesn't change the fact that Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor was the worst part of the film.
Seriously, what was the casting department thinking? What had Eisenberg brought to any project he had ever been a part of to make anyone think that he could pull off Superman's arch-nemesis?
This iteration of the character was supposed to be a more modern idea of a powerful billionaire that brought both Batman and Superman to their knees, but there was absolutely nothing from the performance that backed this up. He was believable neither as an intellectual mastermind, as a shrewd and successful businessman, or anyone with any kind of mean streak.
It's not like Eisenberg tried to do anything different on screen, he just played Lex the same way he has played other characters in the past, and there was just no gelling between the tone set and who the character is supposed to be. And as bad as he looked as a Lex Luthor with luscious locks, well, the less said about how he looked bald the better.
