This emotionally charged supernatural adaptation has a great cast, including Liam Neeson, Sigourney Weaver, Felicity Jones and Toby Kebbell but that's not really the story here.

The biggest selling point for the film, which follows a child's encounter with a monster (Neeson) who appears to him in the night to tell him three stories to help him deal with his mother's cancer. The book is rightly cherished as one of the greatest ever children's books and is dense, beautiful and emotionally devastating, and if the film manages even part of that, we're in for a good time.
