50 Most Anticipated Movies Of 2016 - Ranked

35. Dad€™s Army

When it was first announced that decidedly ropey directer Oliver Parker (whose Othello was about his only good film) was set to remake classic British war TV show Dad's Army, some serious alarm bells started going off.

But in bringing together a brilliantly talented cast (perfectly cast for the most part), Parker restored a lot of faith, and the first trailer was just the tonic for any remaining concerns. The humour feels gentle and charming, as it should, and thankfully there does seem to be a conscious effort to remain true to the source and not expand reductively to throw away what made it so popular.

Let's just hope he handles it better than the St Trinians movies.
