There used to be a time when Disney releasing CG animations without the guiding hand of Pixar was something to be viewed with suspicion or cynicism. Recently though - especially on the back of Big Hero 6 and Frozen - confidence has been restored, and it helps that Pixar supremo John Lasseter is now in charge of everything.

Their latest offering, Moana, is also the latest by modern Disney veterans Ron Clements and John Musker - the men behind hits Aladdin, Hercules, The Little Mermaid and The Princess & The Frog. Their pedigree is a massive selling point for the coming-of-age/breaking boundaries story that sees Moana team up with a former demi-God (played by The Rock) to explore beyond her known world.
