Though the presence of Peter Berg in the directing chair might put some off, he proved with Lone Survivor that he knows how to sell tension and escalating dread very well, and he's probably very well suited to this true tale of the Deepwater Horizon disaster.

Based on a New York Times article recounting the last few hours before the disaster and the explosion itself, the film will star Mark Wahlberg - a very dependable leading man in peril choice - as well as Kurt Russell, John Malkovich (as a company man stooge, by the sound of it) and Kate Hudson. It's bound to be claustrophobic and terrifying, and it's an important story to tell, given its cost.
