50 Most Anticipated Movies Of 2016 - Ranked

31. Bridget Jones€™ Baby

The world's favourite self-deprecating diarist is back, and this time she's writing for two.

Neither of the first two films were particularly ground-breaking, but Renee Zellweger's beloved performance (and the first film in particular) dialled so perfectly into a particular cultural moment (the Grand Awakening Of The Singleton) that it the franchise has an untouchable appreciation about it.

The cast of the first two return (minus Hugh Grant barring an unannounced cameo) and Patrick Dempsey has been added after shaking off McDreamy in Grey's Anatomy. It's bound to make a fortune.

Hopefully they'll resist the temptation to follow the storyline of the third Bridget Jones novel - Mad About The Boy - which controversially killed off Mark Darcy. Sadly, stranger things have happened.

Release Date: 16th September 2016
