12. The Accountant

Before bulking up for his puffy faced Batman performance, Ben Affleck filmed this action thriller alongside Anna Kendrick, JK Simmons, Jeffrey Tambor, Jon Bernthal and John Lithgow, which about as great a cast as any 2016 movie can boast.

The film, which is directed by Warrior helmer Gavin O'Connor (just don't mention Jane Got A Gun), follows an accountant who moonlights as an assassin and has been kicking around Hollywood since 2011 when it featured on the infamous Black List. It's gone through a few different versions since then, with Will Smith attached to star and the Coens and Mel Gibson directing, and if this is a compromise on the original plans it's a remarkably good one.

And if Batman V Superman doesn't go to plan, this will hopefully go some way to restoring Affleck's status. Let's hope it doesn't get to that though.
