50 Most Anticipated Movies Of 2016 - Ranked

11. Ghostbusters

A lot of the talk about the new Ghostbusters has reductively been focused on the fact that it is a "female remake" as if that is something to be classed as a stigma. Unfortunately, some of the reaction of the fanbase - which should have welcomed variation after years of the original cast refusing to commit to a third film - has perpetuated that discussion, but as release draws nearer Paul Feig and the cast are reclaiming control of the marketing.

The main cast is hugely talented with a mix of A-listers in Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy and rising comic stars Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones, and the supporting cas - including Chris Hemsworth, Charles Dance and Neil Casey is similarly set up. Plus, of course, there's the prospect of cameos from all of the surviving cast members of the originals (aside from the still retired Rick Moranis), which is all terribly exciting.

Add in the continued relevance of the Ghostbusters brand and you've got a genuinely huge prospect.
