After Minions made an astronomical $1.1bn at the global box office, it seems the Despicable Me brand is going strong (even if it has increasingly just been an exercise in watching the little yellow guys say "banana" and "bottom" since the first film). And it's set to rake in another healthy haul with the third mainline film.

Steve Carrell's Gru returns with a new rival mega-villain (an 80s child star obsessed with nostalgia), and the film goes full Austin Powers with the revelation that he actually has a twin. Who cares about the lack of ingenuity though - the characters are great and charming enough to carry far weaker stories than this.

And it will be good to see the Minions reigned back in a little bit. As if.
