At this stage, it's already firmly established that Ben Wheatley is an absolute genius. Following the incredibly odd High Rise, his fifth film takes him to the 1970s to focus on the story of a gun deal gone terribly, irresistibly wrong. Wheatley also knows how to put together great casts, and this time he's gone even bigger: Brie Larson, Sharlto Copley, Armie Hammer, Cillian Murphy, Jack Reynor, Michael Smiley, Sam Riley and Noah Taylor are all involved this time out, and that should send shivers of excitement up your back.

Wheatley is easily one of the most intriguing and prodigiously talented directors working today, turning his hand to diverse, richly imaginative material that is as entertaining as it is challenging. Just go back and watch High Rise - a film that is definitely brilliant, but also horribly difficult to actually recommend to anyone.

The trailer was exceptional, which elevates this pretty highly, and it looks like the kind of tense one-room drama that Wheatley's flair for characterisation and moment-making suits perfectly.
