Universal

Let's be honest, when Universal announced that they wanted to follow the MCU's model of an extended universe for their Monsters brand, there were more than a few groans from fans. By then, the idea of linked universes was becoming tiresome in news announcements, and worse, the Universal Monsters hadn't really been at the races for some time.

Sure, Brendan Fraser's Mummy films made some money and were fun, but Van Helsing was a mess, The Wolfman had little more than flashes of brilliance (and a hilariously cuddly Anthony Hopkins-wolf) and Dracula Untold was miserable. They kept trying and uninspiring.

But now they seem to have got their act together, and in leading the new shared universe with a Tom Cruise vehicle (which will in turn lead into a Russell Crowe Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde film) is inspired. That's how you go big guns. And from the first trailers, it looks both entertaining and genuinely like a popcorn horror adventure, which is delightfully unexpected.
