50 Most Anticipated Movies Of 2017 - Ranked

Horrific title aside, the box office success of Fast & Furious 8 is already assured thanks to the massive global haul of the last outing. Admittedly, that had the added emotional pull of Paul Walker's death and a marketing boost led by a pop song in tribute to him that went to number one pretty much everywhere, but the eighth outing will still do gangbusters.

There's also a surprisingly large amount of new interest in the film too. In a world where high-numbered sequels generally mean trotting out the same thing in different clothes, Fate... is turning the main character heel, boosting out the cast with talent as big as Charlize Theron and Helen bloody Mirren and The Rock is leaping up to main billing. All of those things should work for it financially and narratively.

You know what you're going to get with F&F films: a blend of action, T-shirt slogan dialogue and characters as brawny as they are defiant of the laws of physics in their muscle cars. And it's all so gloriously silly (see the submarine in the trailer) that it's impossible not to be captivated.
