50 Most Anticipated Movies Of 2017 - Ranked

The rebooted Planet Of The Apes series really deserves a lot more credit than it ever seems to get: having been met with grumbles initially at the destruction of the "magic" around the twist ending of the original, the two Andy Serkis led films so far have made bucketloads of money. More importantly, they've both also been very good (and not just near-pornographic exercises in visual effects, either).

So now comes the big one - the main event that's been built ever since humanity over-reached and made smart monkeys that could ride horses, wear trousers and talk a little bit. When will we ever learn?!

War For... will see Caesar and his apes in all-out war with the human survivors - led by a fearsome Colonel played by Woody Harrelson - in a bloody battle to decide supremacy. Spoiler alert, the apes win, but it's all about the journey, and Matt Reeves has proved since Cloverfield that he's a great story-telling director. (It must have come back when he was writing The Pallbearer for David Schwimmer...)
