18. The Dark Tower
After what feels like decades of drip-fed news on a potential adaptation (going back to 2007 when JJ Abrams was linked to the project), Nikolaj Arcel is finally bringing Stephen King's iconic fantasy epic to the big screen (as the start of an anthology of adaptations, apparently).
It's something of a shame that Ron Howard - who was attached to an adaptation from 2010 to 2015 - wasn't able to take the project through to completion, but we at least get to see talent as rich as Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey in the film's key roles.
King fans will flock to it, while those actors will bring their own mainstream appeal, and with Game Of Thrones opening all new fantasy fans to the genre, this is arguably the best possible time for the adaptation to finally make it to screen.
