50 Most Anticipated Movies Of 2017 - Ranked

A Blade Runner sequel always sounded like a bit of a joke that Ridley Scott would never actually get round to, no matter how many times he flirted with the idea. And until now, the idea of anyone else tackling the sequel and presumably answering the eternal question of Deckard's humanity (or otherwise) would have been anathema for fans.

But then Denis Villeneuve has quietly gone about making himself one of Hollywood's MVPs with a string of excellent releases in Prisoners, Enemy, Sicario and now Arrival, and he has earned the right to make it. Plus, he's got a hell of a cast in the shape of the returning Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Dave Bautista, Robin Wright, Ana de Armas and Jared Leto, among others.

Obviously, little is known of the plot, and rightly so, but the fact that the studio have managed to turn something so unwelcome into one of 2017's most exciting films is a stunning achievement.
