With Marvel taking back the film rights to the X-Men thanks to Disney's purchase of the important parts of Fox, the future of the current movie timeline remains somewhat up in the air - but the decidedly different New Mutants is already on its way.

After Logan messed with genre expectations by essentially being a Western, Josh Boone's take on Marvel's mutant-verse will see him and the young X-Men spin-off team wading into horror waters. And anything that seeks to be new in the comic book movie world has to be encouraged.

The cast is great, the concept smart and compelling and the potential for innovation huge, so there's lots to be excited about - as long as Boone proves he can make something wildly different to The Fault In Our Stars.
