18. Godzilla: King Of The Monsters

After the first Godzilla, monster movies were suddenly cool again and the writing was on the wall - quite literally, actually - for a sequel that escalated matters. And boy does it seem to have escalated things, if the first trailer is anything to go by.

Rather than a small-scale skirmish with the mutos of the first movie, the sequel is going to be all out monster war with the arrival of legendary movie monsters Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah. It's definitely one for monster movie fans, but if director Michael Dougherty (who directed the Trick R Treat movies and Krampus and co-wrote X2 and Superman Returns) can capture the same balance of human interest and monstrous stakes, we'll be in for a treat again.

It looks like an absolute riot, whatever the balance and the human cast - Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown and Charles Dance included - looks great.
