As much as The Sopranos' series finale felt like the concrete final word on Tony Soprano's story, The Many Saints of Newark is an undeniably appealing prospect, taking place roughly 30 years before the show kicked off and detailing the origin stories of its focal characters.

The cast includes Alessandro Nivola, Leslie Odom Jr., Jon Bernthal, Corey Stoll, Michael Gandolfini, Billy Magnussen, John Magaro, Michela De Rossi, Ray Liotta, and Vera Farmiga, while veteran Sopranos director Alan Taylor takes the helm.

Of particular interest is the casting of James Gandolfini's own son Michael to player a younger version of Tony Soprano, which should ensure the film is a respectful addition to the Sopranos legacy.
