50 Most Anticipated Movies Of 2022
36. The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent
Nicolas Cage has been killing it recently, appearing in a number of shrewdly-selected genre films which have made the most of his unique acting chops, and he seems set to continue that run with this completely unhinged meta comedy.
Cage will play a scarcely fictionalised version of himself who accepts $1 million to attend a superfan's (Pedro Pascal) birthday party, which soon enough goes south when his family are kidnapped. Cage is then forced to "become" the action heroes he's portrayed on screen.
The first trailer looks absolutely hysterical and suggests this has the witty script and slick direction to back up its loony premise, with Cage seemingly having the time of his damn life.
The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent releases on April 22.
35. Creed III
Creed II would've actually been a pretty fitting end-point for the entire Rocky franchise, but both spin-off movies have been so thoroughly entertaining that it's difficult to sneer much at the prospect of a third.
There are a few differences this time, though: Sylvester Stallone won't be reprising his role of Rocky Balboa, and star Michael B. Jordan will be stepping into the director's chair for the first time.
The plot is largely under wraps at the moment, but Jonathan Majors has been cast as Adonis' presumed opponent, who many are speculating to be the son of Mr. T's Clubber Lang from Rocky III.
There's still no word on a shooting start date despite being due for release this year, but both previous Creed films were shot and released on similarly tight schedules without much of an issue, so there's no reason to expect a delay into 2023 (yet).
Creed III releases on November 23.
