26. The Way Of The Wind
Terrence Malick's new film The Way of the Wind was on our list of 2022's most anticipated films, but given the director's infamous penchant for taking his time editing his projects, it's still without a firm release date.
Malick's biblical drama will focus on various pivotal episodes in the life of Jesus Christ (Géza Röhrig), and apparently wrapped filming sometime in late 2019.
The cast for this thing is typically stacked, including Mark Rylance as Satan, Matthias Schoenaerts as Saint Peter, Ben Kingsley, Joseph Fiennes, and Aidan Turner among others.
It's reasonable to expect visual splendour and Malick's usual divisive flowery storytelling, but the most intriguing part of the whole shebang? Rylance will reportedly be playing four different versions of Satan.
The Way of the Wild (hopefully) releases sometime in 2023.
25. Aquaman & The Lost Kingdom
Expected to be the last entry into the DCEU as we know it, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will most likely be Jason Momoa's final outing as Arthur Curry, before he's probably recast as Lobo in James Gunn and Peter Safran's new DC universe.
All the same, most everyone is back for Aquaman 2 - including, controversially, Amber Heard - in a sequel the particulars of which remain surprisingly tight-lipped.
Post-production has been beset by myriad issues, namely pandemic-related delays, reshoots pushing the budget over $200 million, and a fluid situation re: the future of the DCEU.
Ben Affleck has reportedly filmed a cameo as Bruce Wayne, though considering the ever-shifting status of the franchise, who knows if he'll even end up in the final cut.
All the same, hopefully it'll give fans a fun, frothy, escapist thrill-ride to see out the year.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom releases on December 25.
