50 Most Exciting Upcoming Comic Book Movies - Ranked

46. Preacher

Status: In Gestation Due: Some time in the near(ish) future. Apparently. Key Players: New Line Cinema, apparently. But that's about all there is to know currently. What€™s It About: Jesse Custer - the most outrageous of preachers - gets accidentally possessed and impregnated with near God-like powers, and goes on a journey to find God with a vampire and one of his old flames. Obviously. Why We Should Care: It's a great source and it has deserved adaptation for years now. Thing is, though, it's already being adapted for TV by Seth Rogen, and if that works, it would be remarkably stupid to release another version of it. Fair enough, it might be a big screen tie-in, but if they go the same route as Warner Bros are for Flash, it won't be the right idea.

45. Chrononauts

Status: Announced Due: Probably 2018 Key Players: It's being made by Universal, and though Mark Millar claims to have tentatively cast one half of the central pair, there's no firm casting news yet. What€™s It About: It combines time travel and bromance, following Corbin Quinn and Danny Reilly as they travel through time, getting into japes and crossing paths with some of history's most notorious villains. There's also an element of reality TV, as they're being filmed on their adventures, rather than the usual intrepid, mysterious loners who tend to stumble back in time. Why We Should Care: Time travel movies are always intriguing (even when they end up being awful), and there's something hugely endearing about the suggested inspiration points of Doctor Who, The Man Who Would Be King and World's Finest.
