50 Most Exciting Upcoming Comic Book Movies - Ranked

48. Starlight

Status: Optioned Due: Some time after 2017. Key Players: Star Wars Rogue One's Gary Whitta is scripting, and Mark Millar is "overseeing". What€™s It About: Starlight exists somewhere between The Incredibles and every aged cowboy movie ever conceived. The cmic follows Due McQueen, a retired and widowed hero who saved the galaxy and went out to pasture, but who is drawn back in for One Last Job. Like that Batman film with Clint Eastwood we should have had ages ago. Why We Should Care: The comic mini-series was great, and more importantly, Millar's comic properties are a breath of fresh air against the more formulaic (or at least more expected) big two.

47. Animated Spider-Man Movie

Status: Confirmed Due: July 20th 2018 Key Players: The LEGO Movie's Phil Lord and Chris Miller are in the directing chair, which should be enough to get you very excited. What€™s The Situation? Along with retaining the services of Kevin Feige to help oversee their live action "rebirth" of Spider-Man, Sony have also pushed this animated side project into existence. It will sit in parallel to the live action, presumably telling more stories from the same universe to help establish Tom Holland's version of the character with the key younger demographic. Why We Should Care: Lord and Miller. It's as simple as that.
