50 Most Exciting Upcoming Comic Book Movies - Ranked

36. Harbinger (And Sequels)

Status: Announced Due: Probably 2018. Key Players: When announced back in 2008, Brett Ratner was involved, but now it appears the director's chair is empty (or at least the appointment is being kept secret). Eric Heisserer is apparently definitely writing. What€™s It About: A team of super-powered villains, led by psionic Toyo Harada seek to take over the world to save it from itself and remold it in his image. Because that always ends well. Meanwhile an empowered teen seeks to join the Harbinger team, before finding out they're evil and setting up his own team to take them on, recruiting his own Harbingers. The film will apparently also get a sequel before crossing over with fellow upcoming adaptation Bloodshot for Harbinger Wars. Why We Should Care: Unique, creative properties in the comic book movie world are to be cherished

35. The New Mutants

Status: Confirmed Due: TBC Key Players: Fox have hired The Fault In Our Stars' director Josh Boone, and Simon Kinberg will definitely be producing as usual. What€™s It About: The young mutant spin-off team, originally featuring Cannonball, Karma, Mirage, Wolfsbane and Sunspot take centre stage, though not Sunspot for the film, presumably as he was in Days Of Future Past. Though there is the change Kinberg will press to bring back some of those future mutants to tie the spin-off closer to the main X-Men thread. Why We Should Care: Fox have been good to the X-Men franchise, as much as some might wish Marvel had the rights to bring Wolverine into the Avengers, and more spin-offs means they'll keep the rights for longer than Sony have Spider-Man. Which in the long-run means more comic book movies.
