4. T'Challa - Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

All the Bright Places
Marvel Studios

In 2020, Chadwick Boseman tragically passed away after several years of battling cancer. It was clear how much he affected the world and those around him, not just on screen, but as an exceptional person.

Marvel Studios ultimately made the decision not to recast the role of T'Challa, and would not be using CGI to bring Boseman posthumously to screen for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Instead, the character was to be killed off within the confines of the MCU, something that was ultimately handled with respect, with grace, and with all the emotional power you could expect.

This sequel started with a panic in Shuri's (Letitia Wright) Wakandan lab, as she desperately tried to find a way to cure the unnamed illness that was taking her brother's life. This was a battle that she ultimately lost.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever acted as a poignant tribute to Chadwick Boseman, and it was clear just how much he meant to everybody on screen. Particularly during the first moments of the film, the likes of Letitia Wright and Angela Bassett weren't really acting. Instead, audiences were watching the actors, as well as the characters, grieve for someone truly special.
