50 Reasons Why Terminator 2 Is The Greatest Film Of All Time

39. Scene: Sarah's Nightmare

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1wVR6Qab70&feature=player_embedded It's hinted at early on during T2's opening credit sequence, and when Sarah falls asleep in New Mexico, we get to see the full extent of her fears up-close. Sarah envisions herself playing with John in a park full of children, before a nuke obliterates them all, turning them to bones and dust. Particularly impressive is the miniature work here, overseen by legendary late special effects maestro Stan Winston, and is at times often indistinguishable from full-scale destruction.

40. Scene: Sarah Attacks Dyson

A scene of marvellous tension, Sarah launches her assault on the Dyson household, blasting his computer set-up to pieces, and severely wounding him while scaring his family half to death. Sarah, with what she has lived through and her knowledge of the future, has little time to talk, but her more compassionate side comes through when John, along with the T-800, arrives to smooth things over. Again, Hamilton is the absolute stand-out, as her determined intensity transforms into an anguished emotional breakdown, which itself leads into another iconic moment...

41. Arnie Takes A Load Off

The T-800, to demonstrate to Dyson the full extent of what his chip is capable of, grabs a knife and removes the skin covering his machine arm, much to the collective disgust and fright of Dyson and his wife. Stan Winston's animatronic work is as wonderful as you would expect. The creepiness of Arnie uttering, "Now listen to me very carefully" is unmistakable.

42. The Minigun

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7o6CH4fBFo0&feature=player_embedded It's probably the most strident piece of evidence that the term "minigun" is such a ludicrous misnomer. Arguably the film's most badass scene occurs when the gang decide to blow up the Cyberdyne building. Having attracted the attention of just about every cop in LA, Arnie takes care of them by destroying every police car in the vicinity with his trusty weapon. Listen for the panicked helicopter pilot hilariously shout "That's a damn minigun!" as he tries to get out of dodge. And as the smoke clears, the T-800's display miraculously registers zero human casualties.
