Patty Jenkins has already confirmed that Wonder Woman 3, which we can all assume will get made at some point, will take place in the modern era. For the sake of simplicity, it would make the most sense to then set it after the events of any other DCEU movies up to that point, especially ones involving Wonder Woman such as BvS & Justice League.

To be honest, little cameos here and there, while fun, would be a waste of Cavill, considering that contracts usually stipulate the number of movies to appear in, not the total amount of screen time. And while Superman should in no way take attention away from Diana in her own movie, they could definitely share a couple of interesting scenes.

It would be nice to explore the potential differences in viewpoints of these two almost immortal beings, especially given all Wonder Woman has seen of the worst of humanity, and her movie origin establishing her as the original superhero in this world. A genuine, platonic friendship and mutual respect between the two would cement the sense of a shared universe more than the big tentpole crossover movies like Justice League.

And think of the fun of seeing Chris Pine's Steve Trevor (assuming they work out a way of bringing him forward in time once more) pretend not to be intimidated by Diana's super-friends.
