6 Bizarrely Specific Movie Moments UK Censors Banned

2. If It's Not Lockpicking, It's Car Jacking - RoboCop 2

When the inferior sequel RoboCop 2 was due to be released on video in the UK, the BBFC tabled a similarly bizarre request to its Terminator 2 lockpicking demand.

There's a scene in the Irvin Kershner movie where a guy breaks into a car by feeding a thin blade under the window to trigger the locking mechanism. The censorship board dubbed this imitable behaviour and expressed concerns it could render society as crime-ridden as the world depicted in RoboCop... probably.

But here's the funny part... this particular scene only occurred in one of those in-movie satirical commercials that aren't supposed to be taken seriously. The bogus ad was for a vehicle security system called MagnaVolt that fries wannabe thieves before they can commit grand theft auto.

Since MagnaVolt doesn't exist in real life, the BBFC were obviously concerned that leaving this scene in might spark a rise in car theft across Britain.
