6 Creepy Films On Netflix You Haven’t Seen
2. XX (2017)
Short and snappy stories either make or break the mood, and this anthology does not disappoint, giving us four separate stories that take varying approaches on horror but still deliver spine-tingling terror. Maintaining a singular tone isn’t something anthology films often care too much about, and whilst this film does sway between downright scary and a bit funny, the overall sense of dread is felt throughout.
Being an all-female directed anthology, the film is certainly concerned with bringing a voice to women in the horror genre, but those curious for skin-crawling shorts will not be disappointed. Sometimes specific scenes will just linger in your mind for days after watching them, and there is plenty of that here, with the storytellers touching on the occult and the paranormal alike. If living dolls get under you skin then be prepared to crease into the corners of your couch.
