There's still no solo Hulk movie on Marvel's slate thanks to a rights snafu with Paramount Pictures and the disappointing reaction to Ed Norton's The Incredible Hulk. With Mark Ruffalo proving to be massively likeable as the green goliath though, it's hoped that the unannounced Phase Four could finally see him star in a film deserving of the 'incredible' moniker. In World War Hulk, Hulk is deemed to have become too dangerous and is banished from Earth by the Illuminati, a secret committee comprising of Iron Man, Professor X, Namor, Reed Richards, Doctor Strange and the Inhuman Black Bolt. After a series of adventures in space, including a wedding, children and widowerhood, the Hulk returns to earth for revenge. Since seeing the Hulk tear around grunting monotonously on his own has been shown to be more than a little dull, World War Hulk would seem to be the ideal way to focus on 'the other guy'. Manhattan is evacuated, heroes are humiliated and Hulk sets up a gladiatorial arena where his old fiends are forced to fight each other. Basically, Hulk smash. Although some of the Illuminati don't exist in the MCU it won't be long until Stark, Strange and Black Bolt exist in the same space, and knowing the guilt-ridden Banner, he could even push the decision for banishment himself. The scale would have to be shrank down a bit but WWH would provide a more sympathetic side to the beast whilst letting Mark Ruffalo shine even brighter as he tries to stop a series of globetrotting confrontations fuelled by his dark side.
