6 Films Based On Books To Get Excited About In 2014
2. Gone Girl
Based on Gillian Flynn's 2012 novel, Gone Girl is the story of Nick Dunne who is searching for his missing wife and in doing so finds himself a suspect in her disappearance. A psychological thriller, it is hard to go too deep into the plot without giving everything away, but expect lots of twists and turns that will keep you guessing and doubting characters from beginning to end. So why is this a film to get excited about? Well one Director's name should be enough to get your Juices flowing, and that director's name is David Fincher. After the mixed reviewed and slightly disappointing The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo adaptation that Fincher directed in 2011, this film is certain to see Fincher return to form and attempt to prove himself as one of the greats. Alongside Fincher there is also an interesting choice of cast which should make this film worth watching, with Ben Affleck taking the lead role and Neil Patrick Harris even making an appearance (yes you read correctly, Barney Stinson in a Fincher movie, it is really happening). Expect a Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross soundtrack, biting dialogue, and disturbing moments that you just can't get out of your head for weeks after. Gone Girl is certainly a film to look forward to, but which film do we think is really going to take the literary adaptation trophy in 2014? Click next to find out.
