6 More Forgotten Films From the 80’s You’ve Probably Never Heard Of

2. King Frat (1979)

King Frat

Ha, I literally laugh out loud every time I think of this absolutely atrociously awesome (so bad it's good) comedy. Although I am technically cheating as it was released in American theatres before 1980, it didn't actually land on our shores until it was transferred to both VHS and Beta format well into the following decade. So I have decided that it is worthy to be included in this list. Marketed as a type of sequel to "Animal House" (although it wasn't), it never actually reached the heights of its predecessor, not by a long shot. But manages to be just as offensive to people, if not more so. Centred around the exploits of Pi Kappa Delta Fraternity situated at Yellowstream College (yep, that's right) and their illustrious president J.J. 'Gross-Out' Gumbroski (basically a rip off of the infamous John Belushi character), the theme song alone is enough to get you hooked. Featuring a plethora of dick and fart jokes, not unlike certain Seth McFarlane produced animation, this is 80's toilet humor at its very best. And that is basically it really. Pretty easy to explain and if Peter Griffin is your idea of a fun night in then you seriously can't go wrong with this little feature. Now although you can find the movie on youtube, there is not much else in terms of information regarding this lost 80's classic. Which I can't understand as upon researching this article I found out that the character of Tommy was played by Roy Sekoff. Although the name might not be familiar, you might know him as the man who founded "The Huffington Post." Now you'd think with that type of name recognition and internet exposure alone would at least garner this film a bigger following. But alas, it remains buried deep within the dark recesses of Hollywoods soul. Maybe we should bombard Huffpo with images of "Gross out" participating in Yellowstreams first annual fart contest featuring perfomances from the "Amazing Anus" and "Miss Baked Beans '79."

Passions in life: Movies, Music and Wrestling....My childhood was spent growing up in the "Outback" of Australia (I'm a little bit country) and my adulthood resided within the city limits (I'm a little bit rock and roll), so you could say that I am the best (or worst) of both worlds. A 6 foot 7 ex wannabe pro wrestler (whose career was cut short due to a busted back, NOT caused by wrestling) & muso who has a precocious cat & a habit of doing the wrong thing but for the right reasons. The story of my life???? All demos, no albums ;)
