The Replacement: Idris Elba
Though James Gunn was handed an opportunity of a partially clean slate to make his Suicide Squad soft reboot sequel, it was widely expected at first that he'd be bringing back the film's big guns. According to reports around his announcement and the first whispers of casting news, the studio were keen to bring back Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn and Will Smith's Deadpool.
Unfortunately for them, when they approached Smith, he revealed that he was unavailable due to scheduling conflicts and he would have to bow out. The news was reported with the sweetener that they'd parted on amicable terms.
And then shortly afterwards came the exciting news that Idris Elba - now action movie royalty and a bad-ass capable of carrying Deadshot - had been cast as his replacement. Surely nothing can go wrong?!
