6. Point Break (1991): Johnny and Bodhi
You could practically cut the sexual tension between Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves in this movie with a knife. All the time they spent together wearing very little clothing (a wet suit, and or topless), the extended scenes of the two riding a wave side by side, the looks of mystery they shared on the beaches across the romantic sunsets- not to mention Patrick Swayze has always been somewhat of a gay icon and Keanu Reeves, though appearing in "macho" films has always seemed to be in touch with his feminine side. The evidence is pretty glaring. Now, I actually think this is almost the perfect movie: maybe it's just a little bit cheesy and too 90s camp, but this is nonetheless one of the most watchable action films of the decade. The only real issue with the film is the main relationship between Keanu Reeves and that oh so very 90s looking female played by Lori Petty; it never was all that interesting and wasn't particularly well developed. Imagine however if Swayze and Reeves had a thing going on, or at least more consciously expressed sexual tension. That would change the whole dynamic of the film. Reeves friendship grows so much with Swayze at the end, although Reeves is working for the FBI and Swayze is the bank thief he is trying to catch that at least part of Reeve's character wanted Swayze to get away with it. They had a mutual respect, and if they had also had a complicated love and passion for each other, maybe this would have made Reeve's job more difficult than it already was.
