6 Reasons Why Zach Braff Shouldn't Be On Kickstarter

3. He€™s Rich And Well Connected

Jim Parsons Kickstarter Video Still

The figure of $22 million has been bandied about as Braff€™s estimated net worth. Whether or not this is accurate, the point remains that he€™s a popular actor who was reportedly earning $350,000 for every episode of Scrubs he starred in at its peak. All the evidence points towards him being completely minted. With his kind of money and connections, he should be able to find some other way of funding his film rather than asking the public for money. For example, he wants to cast Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory) in one of the lead roles and give Donald Faison (Scrubs) a cameo. Parsons and Faison both appear his panhandling video that€™s on the Kickstarter page so the question is if he can either pay them to appear in that video or get them to do it for free, why can he not either negotiate with them to appear in the film at a low rate or even ask them to help him fund the film. In the 1970s, African-American director Melvin Van Peebles was refused studio financing for his film Sweet Sweetback€™s Badaasssss Song but managed to get a $50,000 loan from comedian Bill Cosby that funded the bulk of it. That€™s the kind of thing Braff should be doing to fund his film given that he€™s been a high profile celebrity for at least a decade now. He€™s got money and connections. For a man in his position, a little initiative can yield big results.
