6 Seedy Horror Films To Blight Your Eyes With

3. Guinea Pig 2: Flower of Flesh and Blood (1985)

hdiohdidioh A most seedy offering from our friends in Japan, Flower of Flesh and Blood is not a very watchable film unless you are a fan of the torture porn genre.. and if you are - good luck to you. Well I guess Japanese horror completists may want to watch this film too just to notch up another sick puppy. The film features a woman being abducted on her way home from work. She wakes up to find herself tied up in a blood spattered dungeon with a white faced man wearing a Samurai helmet. He proceeds to dismember her in a gruesome and protracted manner. At the end we see maggoty limbs strewn about the place. Apparently the poor woman is not the killer's only victim. There is not much point in this film except as a vehicle to shock and appal. It reminds me of the later Japanese film - Grotesque - another torture porn movie which thrives on depravity. I can see why the censors would have a problem with Guinea Pig 2. There is no discernible attempt to create a story or reason behind the dismemberment and disembowelment of this woman. And that is what makes this film so insidiously seedy.

My first film watched was Carrie aged 2 on my dad's knee. Educated at The University of St Andrews and Trinity College Dublin. Fan of Arthouse, Exploitation, Horror, Euro Trash, Giallo, New French Extremism. Weaned at the bosom of a Russ Meyer starlet. The bleaker, artier or sleazier the better!
