4. Ms Marvel To Be Realised On The Big Screen Sooner Rather Than Later?

There's no denying that a fully-powered, successful female super hero would be a big deal, not just for Marvel but for cinema as a whole. Previous attempts like Elektra and - shudder - Catwoman have been massive flops and even big female characters like Storm and Phoenix were wasted in the X Men films. Scarlett Johansson has changed that with Black Widow, proving her worth alongside the Avengers and taking second billing in Captain America: The Winter Soldier but she hasn't been given her solo project yet. Despite Marvel leading a revolution in superhero films, it might be DC that gets there first with a solo female superhero project in Wonder Woman. But even then, it will only be after she has been tentatively introduced in Batman Vs Superman: Dawn Of Justice and The Justice League movie. But maybe, all the secrecy surrounding Marvel's future projects may be hiding the fact that they aren't so behind in bringing solo female superheroes to the big screen. The rumours surrounding the ending of Avengers: Age Of Ultron suggest that Captain America will go on to form his own band of Avengers and that at his side will be a certain Carol Danvers. We've already heard that the next round of films will dispense with origin stories - perhaps we'll jump straight to a powered up Captain Marvel played by Katee Sakhoff? Okay, that last part is wishful thinking, but with the character established early next year - a whole year before Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman makes her cinematic debut - Marvel could still lead the way with a female superhero-centric movie before the third Avengers film hits cinemas.
