6 Things To Fear About Zac Efron In Star Wars 7

3. Efron The Jedi

Jedis are the influence and emotion-free knights of the galaxy in Star Wars; they're kind of like the police, but the ones you're likely to find in action movies, rather than gangster flicks. What you get with a Jedi is that a deeply philosophical being, every single action they take is well thought out, with every foreseeable consequence and reaction accounted for in order to reach a successful outcome. They go through years of training, consuming almost the entirety of their childhood to attain a status of higher thought, where personal feuds and the like do not equate as being important to them. Jedis are, more or less, everything that one does not associate with the reputation that Zac Efron has in the movie world right now. It may be unfair to continually compare Efron to Hayden Christensen's abomination of a turn as Anakin Skywalker before Efron has even been confirmed, let alone given a role, but it's inevitable. The very fact that Efron is a clean-cut, handsome twenty-something with a background in children's movies means that we automatically assume he is to be given a role as a somewhat rebellious Jedi, abiding by the rules of no master and sneaking off to participate in illegal pod races when no one is looking. In short, he already looks like a typecast and uninteresting Jedi which we don't really have that much enthusiasm about seeing pick up a lightsaber, because he'll probably end up crying just before he has to use it. Of course, there is a potentially interesting angle that could be used for Efron, should he take up the good and light side of the force. Take a look at any picture of Mark Hamill from A New Hope, then at Efron in pretty much any picture since puberty. There's a similarity between their faces which could be jumped upon quite effectively, should the writers choose to go down the Skywalker family tree, which may bring the opportunity for a whole new father-son relationship in the franchise. However, one must sincerely hope that this doesn't mean a rebellious breakaway from what daddy wants, because again...that's pretty much already been done.
