Whatever happened to the Western? In the 50s and 60s the cowboy genre was king, making household names of John Wayne, Gary Cooper and Clint Eastwood, while kids played with cap-guns, rode rocking horses and dreamt of being The Lone Ranger. Today, our love of space, robots, time-travel and the unknown has changed the cinematic landscape forever, leaving the classic Western in the dust. Maybe they lacked humour. Luckily, Adam Sandler's here to change that. Netflix presents The Ridiculous 6, a Western satire starring Will Forte, Steve Buscemi, Luke Wilson, Nick Nolte, Rob Schneider and Twilight's Taylor Lautner as the attractive one who dresses up ugly. It's part of a four-picture deal struck between Sandler's production company and the streaming giant in which the cultural references, and take on Apache culture in general, could upset some but that's the tightrope you walk when you're pedalling comedy. Saddle up for The Ridiculous 6, which moseys on to Netflix from December 11th. What will you be streaming on Netflix this week? Share your thoughts in the comments.
