Wax on, wax off... Was that ever a legitimate learning technique or just a cunning plan for an old man to get his car washed for free? There's only one way to find out. The Real Miyagi takes a closer look at the legendary Karate Master Fumio Demura, who choreographed both the Karate Kid movie (in which he served as Pat Morita's stunt double) and the big-screen adaptation of Mortal Kombat. But in the beginning, it wasn't that simple for Demura, whose home city of Yokohama was bombed by allied forces during WW2 when he was six. Years later, he traveled to the US with $300 in his pocket to seek fame and fortune. Steven Seagal trained under Demura for a time, and features heavily in this indie documentary along with former Rocky IV actor Dolph Lundgren, and Michael Jai White, who played Mike Tyson in the 1995 HBO movie. He also holds more black belts than there are Fast & The Furious movies. Originally released on DVD, your can find out just who The Real Miyagi is, on Netflix, from March 1st.
